It was December, last year, and suddenly snow began to fall. A heavy snow, very unusual compared to North Carolina’s occasional powdery dusting. I got Empress and opened the door, excited to see her reaction- this was the first time she would really be able to experience snow. She was so amazed by the sky full of gently falling snowflakes, and her adorable reactions are a precious memory to me. Koy and I had fun with Empress for the rest of the afternoon, playing in the snow, and showing her how to make, snowmen, snow angels and snowballs. I live for care-free moments like this, just remembering that day brings a smile to my face.
The best part of playing in the snow is always warming back up. I’m so happy that an entire season of chili, cuddling under blankets, hot chocolate, and holiday dinners is right around the corner; it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I can't wait to be watching Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer cuddled up in the sofa with Koy and all my kids.
The very best things in life really are free, you could never put a price on such beautiful memories. Slowing down and living a more humble life has been such a blessing to me. Who cares if I had to give up half of my shoes? All the money in the world spent could never give me the value of time spent with the ones I love.
